Women Who Startup aspires to be more than a monthly meetup, with goals of national and global expansion as well as growing into a full-fledged platform for female entrepreneurs. In order to get the ball rolling, WWS required a comprehensive brand identity to signal the start of a new era for the community while offering a springboard for future brand growth.
Women Who Startup is lead by Lizelle Van Vuuren, a serial entrepreneur and respected influencer in the Denver startup space. Our initial discovery phase included sitting in on a monthly meetup, and after only about 5 minutes, it was apparent that Lizelle’s energetic and inspiring personality was the driving force behind WWS and that we needed to have least part of the new identity embody Lizelle. Further discovery revealed that mountain climbing resonated with her on a very personal level, while also serving as a metaphor for the “startup life” that most anyone could identify with. With this we created a brandmark representing WWS as “Basecamp for Female Entrepreneurs”, sitting at the foot of the proverbial “Summit”.
Women Who Startup’s keystone event is it’s annual Summit held during Denver Startup Week. For the 2015 event, we helped WWS develop the visual theme—Investing In Women is Smart Business—by developing illustrations, typographic treatments and icons for the promotional items and presentation deck.
One of the key methods WWS has used to gain visibility in the Denver startup space has been through t-shirts and apparel. In conjunction with the WWS Summit, we applied the new WWS brand identity to apparel for the Summit itself as well as helping WWS launch a 1,000 Tee’s for 10,000 Entrepreneurs Campaign.
